Marit Anne Peterson represents clients in the areas of long-term care planning, elder law, estate planning, probate and trust administration, and in the creation of supplemental and special needs trusts. Prior to joining Garvey, Boggio and Hendricks, P.A., Marit worked in contract administration and legal publishing.

Marit enjoys working with individuals and families to best protect their resources for the future. Acknowledging that the law surrounding this type of planning can be complicated and confusing; her goal is to provide sound legal advice to clients in an understandable and compassionate way. She enjoys meeting with clients in person, to learn their goals and answer their questions directly.

Marit graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 2008, where she was a Dean’s Scholar and a student editor on the Journal of Law and Religion. She served as a law clerk at the Legal Rights Center in Minneapolis, and as a volunteer at WATCH – a court monitoring organization. Marit currently volunteers with Wills for Heroes – an organization that provides important estate planning documents free-of-charge to first responders.

She is also an adjunct professor of philosophy at Augsburg College, where she teaches ethics in the undergraduate Augsburg for Adults program. Marit enjoys public speaking and meeting with groups to discuss long-term care planning, elder law and estate planning, and she currently participates in the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Social Security Sections.
