Estate Planning • Wills and Trusts • Probate and Trust Administration • Incapacity Planning
Betty Jenneman Garvey practices exclusively in estate planning, probate and trust administration, and incapacity planning. She provides over 25 years of experience in these areas for a wide variety of clients, ranging from individuals with modest estates to those with substantial assets and sophisticated estate planning needs. She works with couples and individuals to develop and implement a personal estate plan to distribute assets appropriately and to minimize taxes and post-death administrative expenses. Upon the death of a client, she helps families administer the estate in a timely and efficient manner.
Throughout the years, fellow attorneys have recognized Betty for excellence in the legal field. Since 2002, she has been selected a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota attorneys. Only five percent of Minnesota attorneys make the “Super Lawyer” list each year. Her profile was featured in Minnesota Law & Politics, Twin Cities Business Monthly and Mpls/St. Paul Magazine.
Betty has earned an AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5 rating in Martindale-Hubbell, a national legal directory of attorneys. The AV® rating is the highest possible rating. It identifies an attorney who has practiced for many years and is recognized for the highest level of skill and integrity.
For several years, Betty has served on the planning committee for the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Probate and Trust Law Section annual conference. She has also served on the Governing Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section. She has been a frequent speaker at a variety of public and legal education programs and has authored materials on Irrevocable Insurance Trusts, Revocable Living Trusts, incapacity planning, probate, transfer on death deeds and many other estate planning subjects.
Betty believes that incapacity planning is an important part of each client’s estate plan. She was actively involved in Minnesota legislation supporting an individual’s right to make advanced health care decisions. Her efforts helped pass the current Health Care Directive legislation.
